After debuting on MIRAAA Media Fest‘s live stream last Saturday, Otaco is now available for stream on Valley Swerve’s YouTube channel. Otaco also received MIRAAA’s Best Collaboration Award. An extended cut is still in the works so stay tuned!

Otaco explores in depth the meaning of cultural identity, its possibilities and trappings, and the ways in which a person can accept, reject, or surpass the elements each culture offers its participants. Paired with a critique of Vtuber idolization that runs rampant in online circles, the film also aims to demonstrate how this virtual escapism, which may seem liberating and bonding at first, actually isolates the persons in real life by making it harder for these individuals involved in each internet niche to relate to those outside of it.
